On Monday the 21st of October, in Ballycahill, our girls U16’s football team were ready for action in what was going to be a tough game against Our Ladies Secondary School Templemore.
Within seconds, Templemore scored a point but it didn’t stop there because after the first five minutes the score was 3-4 to 0-0 to Templemore. The girls were trying to put on a good defensive display but the opposition were still getting through and scoring. After twenty minutes we got a free which led to a point from Ceilidh Hennessy.
At half time the score was 7-6 to 0-1.
After a half time motivational talk from team captain, Lianne Malone, we started the second half by defending brilliantly and scoring two more points. But in the end, Templemore were just too good for us, the final score, 9-16 to 0-3.
Team coach Hazel said “Although the weather was very testing and against a stronger team, our young team played very well and to the best of their ability”.
