On Monday the 21st of October our U16 boys basketball team played their first match of the year, a challenge game against Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir. It was also the first basketball match to be played in our new sports hall.
The boys started off well scoring 9 points in the first quarter. But Cahir soon gained a strong lead. At half time the score was 22 – 12 to Cahir.
The 3rd quarter was uneventful affair with Cahir building up a larger lead. The 4th quarter saw a slight improvement by St. Ailbe’s but in the end Cahir were too strong for our under 16 squad as the final score was 43-14 to Cahir.
John Shanahan the team coach said “It was a great performance and everyone worked hard for each other and we have great prospects going forward”
