South Tipperary Student Enterprise Awards

South Tipperary Enterprise Awards were held in the L.I.T. Building in Clonmel on the 7th of March. Our Business teacher Mr. Keating was in charge of the project in our school.

The Enterprise Project requires students to create a mini-company which involves research, product design, graphic design, marketing, and business plans. The event ran for six hours and went very smoothly. There were two categories Junior and Senior. Altogether there were 30 senior teams and the standard was very high.

The first task on the day was to set up our stalls. The judges interviewed all teams for about 5mins based on our business reports which were submitted a week before. When we were finished we took the opportunity to inspect the oppositions’ projects. We also completed a quiz related to Business while the judges were deliberating. Junior and Senior teams went to the auditorium for the award ceremony.

The Senior Competition First prize was won by the “Wellie Racks and Jacks” from Carrick-on-Suir. There were two merit awards. The winners were Pres in Clonmel for best stand and the second winner was our own team “iWristbands”, for the best innovative idea. Finally the winner for the table quiz was confirmed and St. Anne’s took that Prize.

Mr. Keating said “It was a great day, the teams were brilliant. I will be looking forward to travelling to the National Final.’’

We will be travelling to Croke Park on the 2nd of April to watch the National finals and we will be looking forward to seeing the winner.
