On the 30/09/14 first year girls travelled to Killenaule for a basketball blitz hosted by Scoil Ruain. They played two matches to qualify for the semi-final, they won both matches with ease! In their first match they played Scoil Ruain (B team). They won this match 8-0. Robyn Hyland, Shauna Frewen, Megan Prenderville and Jayne Lawlor all got a basket each. They won their second match against Colaiste Dun Lascaigh 8-4. Jayne played a killer game… she scored three times and Mackeala Hassett also scored. This meant they were now through to the semi-final, which was a great achievement. They played and beat Comeragh Collage 26-2.They demolished the other team! Comeragh Collage didn’t stand a chance. They were scoring basket after basket, they just couldn’t catch up. The girls were unstoppable!! Chloe Mc Eniry scored three times, Shauna scored twice, Mackeala, Megan and Sally-Ann O’Dwyer scored once each. They were now through to the final, and determined to win.
They played Scoil Ruain (A team), and won 14-6. Chloe McEniry scored four times in this game, Jayne twice and Mackeala once. They received a plaque and each player got a medal. Mr.Creedon was managing the girls on the day and Ms. Demarco helped out. Chloe McEniry was the captain. The whole team was delighted with their amazing win, it was a tremendous achievement! The girls were spectacular on the day, even though it was their first competitive game of the season.
