On the 7th of October we went to a under 17s hurling match in Mallow in Cork. The opposition team was Cobh. At 10:30 we headed away to mallow GAA. The teacher who organised this match was the hurling coach Mr. Keating. It was the first round of the Munster championship and unfortunately the last round.
It wasn’t a good day for St. Ailbe’s under 17s, Cobh won by 4 goals and 12 points to 1 goal and 10. The top scorer for our team was number 12, James Dee, scoring 1 goal and 5 points. Followed by Eoghan Ryan number 25, who scored 3 points. After the match, we asked Mr. Keating what his thoughts were on how they played, he replied: “They played very well but were unlucky at the end“. We also spoke to the team captain, Liam Óg, who thought they could have played better. The boys will train harder to hopefully get a better result next time.
